From the CEO

People often ask what CFP Board does beyond certifying financial planners. It's a fair question.

The honest answer is more than most people realize.

Our spring Public Awareness Campaign is running now. The reach is strong — network TV, streaming, digital, audio and major national publications. CFP Board

Dane_2026_Corners

Ambassadors appeared on FOX & Friends Weekend on April 11 and are scheduled to appear on Good Morning America on April 29. If you haven’t updated your LetsMakeAPlan.org profile, now is the time. In 2025, 3.7 million people visited the site.

We know the campaign works. Our fall commercial achieved 74% unaided brand recall, four times the financial services norm. Preference for working with a CFP® professional has climbed from 22% to 81% over the life of the campaign. CFP® certification has earned its relevance.

The opportunity now is influence.

The Public Awareness Campaign is one way we build influence. Our research is another. When CFP Board publishes findings on financial planning outcomes and household financial behavior, it gives CFP® professionals credible ground to stand on with clients, employers and peers. The research also shapes how financial planning is understood beyond the client conversation, and where the profession carries weight.

And then there's public policy. Our team is active on Capitol Hill and engaged across the U.S., working to ensure CFP® professionals have a voice in the decisions that affect their profession and the people they serve. That work doesn't always make headlines, but it drives outcomes.

These efforts reinforce one another. The campaign builds visibility. Research adds substance. Policy work gives the profession a voice.

That shows up in real ways for CFP® professionals: stronger client conversations, clearer differentiation in a crowded marketplace and more weight behind the CFP® marks.

This is how the profession extends its influence.
